Sumit Chauhan

Sumit Chauhan is an Ambedkarite journalist, he is serving his community through journalism. Sumit is the founding editor of The Shudra and The News Beak, a community media organisation dedicated to the marginalised section of the society popularly known as Dalits in India.

After studying journalism from the country’s top media school ‘Indian Institute of Mass Communication’ (New Delhi), he started his career with ABP News. Sumit has also worked with Hindi news channels Zee News, India News and News Nation for many years in various important positions.

He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of journalism. Sumit has special abilities in reporting, political coverage, script writing, video editing, documentary making, research, fact check and digital journalism. In April 2021, the country’s prestigious magazine Outlook included Sumit in the list of top-50 influential Dalit personalities of the country.

Sumit’s dream is to establish a National Bahujan Media because India’s Manustream media serves the interests of a few castes and harshly ignores the deprived classes. The Shudra and The News Beak have a special recognition in the field of Ambedkarite journalism and are constantly trying to raise the voice of the deprived sections.
